I’ve long enjoyed the book spine poems invented by Travis Jonker at 100 Scope Notes, and this year I finally decided to try my hand at creating one.
Here’s a close-up, or you can click on the photo to see an enlarged view that’s easier to read:
And here it is in typed text:
The Long Winter
Cold, Colder, Coldest
It’s Snowing! It’s Snowing!
Snowy Flowy Blowy
One Leaf Rides the Wind
Rain, Snow, and Ice
Rosy Noses, Freezing Toes
Clouds, Rain, and Snow
Waiting for Spring
This was actually a lot of fun to create, and not as hard as I thought it would be! Have you created a book spine poem? Please leave a comment and tell us where to find it!
Wow! This is so creative! This would be a great poetry activity in an upper grade classroom (I teach first grade). I could probably do something like this as a whole class towards the end of first grade though. Thank you for sharing!

Mine aren’t as poetic, but I did the best with what I had: http://www.shorttales.net/having-fun-with-book-spines-and-wine/
Food for thought indeed! LOL! Thanks for sharing!
Your ideas are wonderful! Ever thought of adding a title to one photo per blog so it can be pinned on pinterest? If so, don’t forget to add your blog name on top of photo too so you can get more traffic. So many great ideas, I’m afraid I can’t remember them all! 😉
Thank you for reading, and for the suggestion! I would love to see your Pinterest board(s) if you’d care to share the link!
